چکیده
Abstract High-sensitivity interstellar scintillation and polarization observations of PSR B0656+14 made at three epochs over a year using the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) show that scattering is dominated by two different compact regions. We identify one nearer to pulsar with shell Monogem Ring, thereby confirming association. The other probably associated Local Bubble. find observed position angles spin axis spatial velocity are significantly different, separation 19.°3 ± 0.°8, inconsistent previously published near-perfect alignment 1° 2°. independent regions clearly defined in secondary spectra, which strong forward parabolic arcs. arc curvatures imply screens corresponding outer inner arcs located approximately 28 pc from 185 Earth, respectively. Comparison Doppler profiles electromagnetic simulations shows both mildly anisotropic. For arc, we estimate anisotropy A R be 1.3, irregularities aligned parallel velocity. compare delay computed theoretical strong-scattering model. Our results suggest spectrum Ring flatter than Kolmogorov, but further required confirm this.

Interstellar Scintillation of PSR J 0437 − 4715
Aims. We studied the turbulence spectrum of the local interstellar plasma in the direction of PSR J0437−4715, on the basis of our observations and those reported earlier by others. Methods. We combine these data to form a structure function for the variations of phase along the line of sight to the pulsar. For observations that did not report them, we infer modulation indices from a theoretical...
متن کاملDaily Observations of Interstellar Scintillation in PSR B 0329 + 54
Quasi-continuous observations of PSR B0329+54 over 20 days using the Nanshan 25-m telescope at 1540 MHz have been used to study the effects of refractive scintillation on the pulsar flux density and diffractive scintillation properties. Dynamic spectra were obtained from datasets of 90 min duration and diffractive parameters derived from a two-dimensional auto-correlation analysis. Secondary sp...
متن کاملInterstellar Scintillation of PSR J 0437 − 4715 on Two Scales ?
We sought to determine the scale of scintillation in the interstellar plasma of PSR J0437−4715. We used the Very Long Baseline Array to obtain scintillation amplitude and phase data, from dynamic spectra at 327 MHz. We observe two scales of scintillation of pulsar PSR J0437−4715, differing by more than an order of magnitude in scintillation bandwidth. The widerbandwidth scale of scintillation t...
متن کاملPulsar Psr B0656+14, the Monogem Ring, and the Origin of the ‘knee’ in the Primary Cosmic Ray Spectrum
The Monogem ring is a bright, diffuse, 25◦-diameter supernova remnant easily visible in soft X-ray images of the sky. Projected within the ring is a young radio pulsar, PSR B0656+14. An association between the remnant and pulsar has been considered, but was seemingly ruled out by the direction and magnitude of the pulsar proper motion and by a distance estimate that placed the pulsar twice as f...
متن کاملInterstellar Scintillation Velocities of a Relativistic Binary PSR B1534+12 and Three Other Millisecond Pulsars
We present interstellar scintillation velocity measurements for four millisecond pulsars obtained from long-term monitoring observations with the Arecibo radio telescope at 430 MHz. We also derive explicit expressions that relate the measured scintillation velocity to the effective transverse velocity responsible for the motion of the diffraction pattern for both binary and solitary pulsars. Fo...
